She Girl

Last month I began an on-line mixed media class, She Art Workshop by Christy Tomlinson.  I fell in love with art all over again!

I decided to use a clip board I had in my box of goodies.  This was from a previous class at a scrapbook event long ago.

I took off as much as I could before I got started.  But it wasn't really necessary because I was going to cover it with some much stuff.

Sam wanted to hang out with me.  This was before he was diagnosed with arthritis so I set up this spot for him.

I held the clip on the clip board open with a large clip (lol).  I covered the board with Gesso.  While it was still wet, I pressed the end of a paper towel tube into it.  This was a waste of time because it was eventually covered.  But you never know where your piece will lead you.

I began painting the board.  I added green paint to some texture medium and stippled it on.

I decoupaged a piece of pattern paper. 

I added some additional layers, journal card, dictionary paper, torn tag and decoupaged those on.

I spread some paint onto bubble-wrap and dabbed it around.

Again with the paper towel tube, I used it as a stamp.

Went through all my rub-on stash and added some around.

Used (and FELL IN LOVE) with background stamps from Papertrey Ink.  Especially LOVE the script stamp!

Final product.  Now all of these techniques I used here, I learned in the She Art Workshop.  Tons of fun!  This was just week one.  I got distracted with school and haven't gone on the weeks 2 and 3.  I can't wait to get back to it.

Inchie Canvas

Last month some of us girls from WhoGAS met for a weekend at the Scrap Retreat House.  Cynthia hosted an "Inchie" swap.  These are the "Inchies" I got from the Pink-Brown-Green combo.  I painted a 5" x 7" canvas to display this swap.

In case you don't know what an "Inchie" is, it's a 1" square piece of 'art'.  There are 12 Inchies displayed on this canvas.

Google Inchie, click on Images and see all that come up.  Some amazing stuff there.

I don't know who did what Inchie.  If you did one, please leave a comment with which Inchie you made, i.e. 1., 2., 3.,etc.

There's a few things going on here in this image.

A photo mat was made by cutting around a length of flowers on the patterned paper, inked and place behind the photo.

A plain shipping tag was crumpled, flattened out, sponged with coordinating ink on surface and on edges.

After the tag was adhered to the layout, the dress form stamp from Unity Stamp Co. was stamped on the patterned paper and shipping tag.

With the flowers, I punched out three different sizes from the Tim Holtz Sizzix Die with three different designs of patterned paper.  I slightly curved the petals up and inked edges.  Layered using a Glue Dot and placed a pretty center in the middle.  Pretty center is from a Polka Dot Whimsy kit.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

On the bottom edge of the layout, I used a Fiskar's border punch across the entire bottom, leaving the layout a bit short...intentionally.  I inked the edge.

The ribbon.  I started sewing on the ribbon from the left, folding the ribbon as I sewed.  Once I got halfway through, I added the stripe ribbon and continued on for a few more folds.

 OMG, when searching for the link of the above punch, I found this one.  I MUST have it.  Fiskar's, please send it to me!!!

I made this 'Season's Greetings' layout to share with you today.

I used Bo Bunny papers and my luv...my Cricut.

Cricut Christmas Solutions

Scored with paper trimmer, then fan folded to make 'rosette' behind the Noel.

I curled the 'gift tags' with my thumb and finger and added a tad bit of adhesive on the right curve to attach to paper.

I stamped a circle of circles around '25' then added bling, one at a time on the stamped image.

The acrylic embellishment is old-school Fancy Pants.  I dabbed the back of it with coordinating colors of alcohol inks.  Just happened to have the perfect colors for these papers.  Love when that happens!

Help Me Decorate :-)

I'm posting a short video of my scraproom/classroom. 

I'd like to decorate it to look purdy and to represent West Coast Scrappers.

I'm asking YOU to please give me ideas because I'm a total dork when it comes to decorating.

My friend, Jessica, suggested tule.  I think I'm going to buy a big roll of it and let her go to town with it.  (Aren't I so nice!  Such a giver-he-he!)

 

I, sincerely, appreciate any advise you have to offer.

Spooky Blog Haunt!

Happy Haunted Halloween.....

I rarely----VERY RARELY use my mists.  I misted glossy cardstock with two different colors and blended them with a sponge. 

Another rare things for me is using my Spellbinder's dies.  I'd like to use them more.

I made a few Mini Monsters with my Cricut and CTMH Cardstock.  I made them the largest I could, 7 1/2" and made a little banner with them.

As with most things I make, I pop-dotted them.
